"WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I WANTED TO BE A CONSTRUCTION WORKER" by Wang2Mu, limited edition of 100

Sold out.

"This is the story of a child who dreamed of becoming a construction worker, but ended up as a thug instead.

When I was young, I would write down my dreams on pieces of paper, that when I grew up I would become this or that. As time passed, one by one these dreams faded away, until all I was left with was a plain, ordinary life. How many people, in order to have a stable life, have given up their dreams? When we can no longer bear the mundanity of our daily lives and we curse ourselves for giving up those dreams, there is hope left still."

Wang2Mu is a Guangzhou-based illustrator known for his signature ballpoint pen style. Using only the colors red and blue, Wang2Mu commonly explores themes of childhood nostalgia, as well as Guangzhou's domestic culture.
